Before
Before setting up her own medical structure, Dr. Hawa SOUMAH was head of the ophthalmology department at AMSO, the Medical Association to Save the Eye in Conakry. Under the direction of Abdoulaye NABE, this eminent Guinean surgeon, who graduated in Cuba, developed the eye care sector in the capital and “inside” the country by implementing advanced strategies.
When the director of AMSO died, Hawa took on the project she had been working on for years: setting up her own NGO.
NOW
Our relationship with Dr. Hawa SOUMAH is not only professional. It is based above all on a very long friendship and unwavering mutual trust. Also, our collaboration in the creation of his brand new NGO was acquired and total. At the end of 2022, Hawa officially created AMDC Ophthalmology: the Association of Graduate Doctors of Cuba.
Voir la Vie has equipped its new center with all the equipment for ophthalmological consultations and surgical operations
Today, we are stepping up our action to improve the optical offering. Fondation KRYS Group and Voir la Vie have signed a partnership that allows us to benefit from the French optician's Make It Easy technology.
The measurements are taken on site by the AMDC teams, sent by email to the KRYS group manufacturing center located in the Paris region. The equipment is created and returned to Conakry by express carrier. We obtain the assurance of providing corrective glasses perfectly adapted to patients and we put an end to the distribution of recycled frames whose lens powers are never adapted to the people to be fitted (often creating more damage than anything else).
Finally, all training missions for AMDC staff are carried out by volunteers from the “Solidarité HK” Challenge. The group’s two managers, Olivier Hesteau and Serge Klienkoff, have launched an internal motivation operation for their staff to assign around twenty young opticians each year to train their Guinean counterparts.
