Meeting with Thierry CALDERO
optician in Avignon and Mathilde, his director
Tuesday January 21, 2020
1 – Reminder:
Thierry CALDERON is an optician in Avignon, owns several KRYS stores, is expanding in Apt and has around 40 employees.
As part of the CSR that he intends to carry out within his group, he approached VLV in 2019 to set up a challenge to motivate his teams to participate in humanitarian missions. We presented to him the principle of Challenge Solidarité HK from Hesteau and Klienkoff (which he knew from having approached them) and agreed to personalize this operation for his group. Thierry presented it at the end of 2019 to his directors who joined. 5 opticians have already applied. Start-up is planned for 2020.
2 – The Challenge:
It will use the same principles of volunteer selection as that of HK. VLV will provide a presentation of humanitarian missions and a list of humanitarian criteria for participation in our actions. This list will complement Calderon's own criteria for the participation of its employees (seniority, diploma, refraction qualification, etc.)
Mathilde, who will be the Rozenn of the operation, will disseminate the conditions of participation on the intranet, will pre-select the candidates and interview them with Thierry (motivation, expectations, etc.). VLV will make the final selection following a meeting with each pre-selected candidate. As it will be difficult to schedule physical interviews with everyone, the video principle was retained.
3 – The field of action:
It is simpler to assign Calderon volunteers to a single country. This makes it possible to run them on the same site, therefore to have better monitoring of the missions, one behind the other, and to bring together a spirit of motivation among the teams by allowing them to discuss a single subject between missions. . It is therefore in Senegal that the Calderon opticians will intervene.
4 – Volume:
Ideally, we have scheduled 5 training missions for 2020. If the first will be led by Thierry (read further), the other 4 must involve 8 volunteers (always in pairs). The figure of 8 poses a problem for Thierry in relation to his workforce. He thinks he can only reasonably commit to a volume of 4 to 5 people/year. To complete this, we will call on volunteers from the Krys Foundation.
5 – Collaborations:
To fill the number of volunteers needed for the 2020 missions, it was considered calling on Thierry's colleagues in the region (because Krys runs regional meetings to bring together opticians from the same region. Thierry therefore has very good relationships with Gautier and Malmejac in Marseille).
A regional meeting on February 3 is planned and Thierry suggests asking its organizer, Thierry DE SECCO (whom our Lionel knows very well) to allow him to make a call for additional volunteers. As it is now a question of reserving a quota for the Foundation, we will indicate that these possible selections will have to go through the Foundation Challenge and not directly.
6 – The first mission:
She will take Thierry alongside Lionel to allow him to have a real vision of what his Challenge represents, both in terms of the professional environment in Senegal and the training expectations that he will have to ask of his colleagues. This is the best way to align the operation with local needs and the volunteerism of its employees.
7 – The launch:
Thierry would like to communicate in mid-February to give him time to launch his Challenge during the two months which will precede the second mission (mid-May), the one which will be reserved for his volunteers and devoted exclusively to training. VLV must therefore provide the communication elements (listed above) and plan the video selection sessions (Lionel for the “professional” part, Claire for the “administrative and stay” part, Nicolas for the “associative” part).
