Before
In 2014, in collaboration with the Guinean NGO AMSO (Association Médicale pour Sauver l'Oeil), led by Abdoulaye NABE, our two NGOs worked to provide a treatment solution for eye diseases in the town of Fria, a few kilometers from Conakry.
A partnership led us to carry out an audit mission to prepare the installation of the unit. The collection of material was carried out in France and Dr René FRITSCH left to assemble the structure and make it operational.
Fria was not to be a center whose operation would be permanent but an advanced base for carrying out field consultation missions, thus avoiding the teams from Conakry or Kindia having to transport fragile and bulky equipment.

The town of Fria is home to a major alumina mining base created several decades ago by Pechiney and previously managed by Russia, a Russian mining operator.
In 2015, Russia decided to shut down its refinery plant. This brutal decision was detrimental to the economic and social development of the city. The population, almost exclusively employed by the mining factory, found itself deprived of resources.
Impoverishment created a situation so tense that it became a question of survival, relegating health costs to the background.
AMSO and Voir La Vie then decided to transfer the unit to N'Zérékoré but we kept a consultation point which allows the Conakry team to hold monthly screening days there.
