As part of its associative activity as an international association, Voir la Vie collects and uses information about you (hereinafter the "Personal Data"). Generally speaking, they are collected in the context of your donations or your requests for information.

The security, confidentiality and protection of your Personal Data is essential to us. Consequently, the Personal Data that you entrust to us are processed in full compliance with the applicable regulations and in particular with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC and Law No. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 on information technology, files and freedoms, as amended.

As part of our commitment to the protection of your Personal Data, we wish to inform you in complete transparency, in particular:

  • the reason why and how we collect, use and store your Personal Data;
  • our role in processing your Personal Data;
  • your rights and our obligations regarding the processing of Personal Data.

1. What is the purpose of this privacy policy?

This policy applies to all uses made of your Personal Data (hereinafter the “Processing”) by Voir la Vie.
Its purpose is to inform you of how your Personal Data is processed by the association, which is the entity responsible for the Processing of Personal Data.

2. What type of personal data do we collect?

The Personal Data that we collect about you is provided to us directly and only by you through the Site.
The provision of Personal Data is a necessary condition for us to maintain a relationship with you.

This includes the following information:

  • Title, surname, first name, email address, telephone number.

In order to ensure that your Personal Data is relevant, accurate and up to date, we may ask you to review and confirm the accuracy of the Personal Data we hold about you. We also ask you to inform us of any changes to your Personal Data (e.g. change of email address).

In certain cases and when permitted by applicable law, the association will also collect Personal Data about you, indirectly from its service providers (for example, (emailing – newsletter, flash mail, correspondence, invitations, events, portages, trips for journalists or influencers), and from publicly available sources, such as social networking services.

3. On what legal basis(s) and for what purpose(s) do we process your Personal Data?

3.1 Purposes of the Processing(s)

We always process your Personal Data for a specific and precise purpose and only process the data that is necessary to achieve that purpose.
In particular, we process your Personal Data for one or more of the following purposes:

  • You offer to participate in our communication campaigns or to inform you about our communication campaigns;
  • Communicate with you by email, mailing, telephone and/or mobile phone about products and services that may be of interest to you from us or from a third party, subject to having obtained your express consent for this purpose where required by law;
  • Manage our contact list;
  • Improve our Services through satisfaction questionnaires, tests, etc.;
  • Answer your questions;
  • You invite to our events (press conference, launch evening, trips, workshops, etc.)

3.2 Legal basis for the Processing(s)

We are not allowed to process your Personal Data without a valid legal basis. Therefore, Voir la Vie will only process your Personal Data if:

  • the processing is necessary to perform its contractual obligations towards you or to take pre-contractual steps at your request;
  • the processing is necessary to comply with its legal or regulatory obligations;
  • processing is necessary for Voir la Vie’s legitimate interests, unless your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms override them, for example to provide communications and/or press relations services to Voir la Vie’s customers;
  • in certain cases, when Voir la Vie has obtained your prior consent.

We do not carry out any automated decision-making, including profiling, which may produce legal effects against you or substantially affect you.

4. How do we protect your Personal Data?

Access to your Personal Data is only given to employees and/or managers of Voir la Vie who need it to carry out their mission. All these employees and managers are subject to strict obligations regarding the protection of Personal Data and confidentiality. Access to your Personal Data may also be given to third parties, under the conditions defined in section 5.2.

5. Who has access to your Personal Data?

5.1 Within the association

We communicate your Personal Data to employees and managers of Voir la Vie, to the extent that they need it in the exercise of their mission.

5.2 Outside the association

We also transfer your Personal Data to third parties external to Voir la Vie for the purposes referred to in section 3.1, provided that these third parties need this data to carry out the tasks we have entrusted to them for the purpose of carrying out our activities. We do not transfer your Personal Data to these third parties for use for commercial purposes without having obtained your express prior consent.

  • These third parties are: travel associations, event providers, drivers, delivery people; etc.
  • The association's clients;
  • Any national or international authority, when we are required by law to communicate such data to them.

6. How long do we keep your Personal Data?

We will retain your Personal Data for as long as we need it for the purposes of carrying out our communication activities and providing public and press relations services, as well as in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

6.1 Your rights

You have the right to access the Personal Data processed by Voir la Vie that concerns you. If you believe that any information we hold about you is incorrect or incomplete, you can also ask for it to be corrected. Voir la Vie will correct this information promptly.

You also have the right to:

  • Request the erasure of your Personal Data, in this case, we will proceed with the requested erasure without delay, but subject to compliance with the legal and regulatory obligations incumbent on us and by virtue of which we may be required to retain your Personal Data;
  • Request the restriction of the processing of your Personal Data; Request the portability of your Personal Data, i.e. the communication by Voir la Vie to a third party of the Personal Data it holds in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
  • Set guidelines for the retention, deletion and communication of your Personal Data after your death. You also have the right to object to the processing of your Personal Data for direct marketing purposes.

6.2 Exercising your rights

To exercise the above rights, you can send an email to info@voirlavie.org accompanied by a copy of both sides of your identity card or passport, so that we can verify your identity.

Voir la Vie will honour all requests, withdrawals or objections required under applicable data protection rules, but please note that these rights are not absolute: they do not always apply and exemptions may be invoked. If Voir la Vie does not comply with your request, we will explain why.

6.3 Complaint to the data protection authority

You may also lodge a complaint with the personal data protection authority (i) of your habitual residence, (ii) of your place of work or (iii) of the place where the violation is alleged to have occurred.

7. What does Voir la Vie do in the event of a Personal Data breach?

A Personal Data Breach is any breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure of, or access to, personal data transmitted, stored or otherwise processed.

If a Personal Data breach occurs, Voir la Vie will inform the competent supervisory authority as soon as possible and no later than 72 hours after becoming aware of it, unless the breach in question is not likely to create a risk for the rights and freedoms of natural persons.

Furthermore, if the breach is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will inform you of the breach of your Personal Data as soon as possible.

8. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This policy was last updated on 10/03/2026.
This policy may be subject to change. Any changes in the way your Personal Data is processed will be communicated to you by the means of communication we usually use to contact you.
